The curtain came down on this year's league program, in what has been a very strange campaign. With very little at stake at season's end it was very much the case of getting back onto the field following the long layoff. In the end Aberaeron have had a very much a mixed bag of results with success offset with narrow defeats, and having to settle for mid table position in the league. A local derby against Llanybydder was an ideal opportunity therefore to finish in style and they rewarded the considerable support with a four try salvo for the bonus point victory. Not for the first time they were indebted to full back Morgan Llewelyn whose mixture of pace and guile was too much for the visitors. Llewelyn registered his third hat trick of the campaign and capped off with a fourth for the important bonus point. A penalty and three conversions from Rhodri Jenkins completed the scoring and the odd foray from the Teifisiders was comfortably repelled. It could have been a wider margin with the home forwards battling well throughout, props Alex Danton and Owain Wozencraft carrying well and second row Gethin Hughes always looking to make ground whilst Gethin Dafis was unlucky with crash ball openings. Young Steffan Jones enjoyed a good afternoon at the base of the scrum with safe distribution, and creating opportunities for the backline which on another day would have brought success. In the end it was a good result to finish the season and we now look forward to a more organised program next year.
