The final scoreline may indicate a comfortable win for Aberaeron, but they owe the success to a dominant backline display in the first half  to secure the bonus point win. The Tregaron front eight showed up well during the opening exchanges, even shading the set pieces , but they were unable to capitalise on possession gained. Aberaeron on the other hand made the most of their openings, and the expansive movement and interchange along the backline pave the way for the 4 try salvo. The first came along in the opening minutes with the move starting in home territory, and finding young wing Bedwyr Davies, who did well to sneak in at the corner. Tregaron came back from the restart and subjected the home pack to collapse a maul and they were rewarded for their endeavour with a penalty from outside half Gethin Jones.Another flowing move soon increased the home advantage, this time full back Dan Lintin the benefactor as he squeezed over the line with Rhodri Jenkins adding the conversion. The third try was due to enterprise as a loose ball on halfway was hacked ahead by Dyfrig Dafis, and the centre outpaced the home defence to register his first try of the season, allowing Jenkins an easy conversion. Jenkins himself then put his name on the scoresheet charging down an attempted clearance to gain the bonus point and also adding the conversion. If the home support expected the floodgates to open in the second half they would have been disappointed as Tregaron upped the ante after the restart as they more than held their own, subjecting the home pack to an uncomfortable 40 minutes. Driving at the home line, they gained a well deserved success as evergreen Dorian Pugh dropped over the line, Davies converting the try. More pressure from the visitors could have reduced the deficit further but the lack of killer instinct was their Achilles heel, and the final score resulted from an individual effort from Dafydd Llewelyn, the classy centre drifting past defenders, and giving Jenkins an easy conversion and a sigh of relief from the home crowd. So what had looked like an easy afternoon became a tense affair with and a tale of two halves.
