Cefneithn 12 Aberaeron 33

Having already confirmed their place in the final of the Div 3C cup competition, at Llandovery on Friday evening, Aberaeron completed the preliminary knock out stages undefeated in a very competitive game against Cefneithin. On a bone hard pitch the home side had their share of possession and territory, but  despite the early onslaught  a fine defensive display repelled would be attacks.

And after comfortably holding out for the first quarter, Aberaeron gained momentum and  opened the scoring from a scrum near the 22 when scrum half Gareth James showed his power to cross with an excellent conversion from the touchline by Rhodri Jenkins. A second try soon followed by Tudur Jenkins and Jenkins repeated his success again from the touchline. Cefneithin gave themselves some hope for the second period when they gained their first try minutes before the break, but they suffered a setback  on the stroke of halftime when excellent  interplay between Iwan Jones and Morgan Llewellyn, saw the latter crossing in the corner, for a halftime score of 19-5 for the visitors.

The second half continued in much the same manner with Cefn unable to compete with the power of the visiting scrum ,and the lead was extended when  James crashed  over for his second, and Jenkins again converting. The last quarter saw  Cefneithin gain ascendancy and they were rewarded with a converted try. Aberaeron  brought  on their bench players and it was the future that wrapped up the victory as the youth contingent created a contender for try of the season. A brilliant piece of running from centre Iwan Jones ,released  Morgan Llewellyn with a deft pass and the fullback  scored  under the post, which provided Justin Lloyd with the perfect birthday present. Jenkins again converted to complete the scoring, and Aberaeron can now look forward to the final. Apart from the normal strong performance from Aaron  and his forward compatriots the introduction of the younger element bodes well with Iwan Evans setting in well on the flank, and another Steffan Dale in the squad
