Pembroke 40 Aberaeron 22..
Despite a courageous performance Aberaeron bowed out of this season's Bowl competition in a highly entertaining encounter at Crickmarren, with the hosts indebted in no little way to no 8 Sam Smith whose 4 try salvo gained their place in the next round . The result could have gone either way but home advantage coupled with Smith's power play was enough to tip the balance. It was Smith who put Pembroke ahead with a try converted by Sean Dalling before Abereron fought back with a try from Alex Danton. Nippy scrum half Tom Lewis added a second Scarlets’ score – only for Aberaeron to be gifted a seven-pointer from Rhodri Jenkins as a result of a scything break ' alongside a penalty by Jenkins that put his side 15-14 in front. Just as it seemed that the visitors were gaining a foothold Pembroke hit back as Smith scored his second try and Cyle Wetherall also crossed the whitewash before Dalling added the extras to give his side an 11-point lead at the break. The second half was equally entertaining as Aberaeron added another try by Huw Wozencroft but Pembroke stayed in front thanks to two more tries by Smith, both converted by Dalling. Despite the defeat this was another encouraging outing for the Seagulls and they can resume league action with optimism.
